Fall Storm (a haiku)

A whirlwind of hair.
Dark, thundering clouds rollin.
Fall is almost here.

Life at Sandy Beach (a ballad)

So quick his death, a painless flight,
as trees now bust his face.
His boat had crashed and took his life,
an act of God's own grace.

His spirit dwells in clouds above
but catches sight of friends,
who live on earth and miss his love
and hear the words he sends.

He speaks in dreams through special code
and finds a way to teach:
"You need to take a lighter load
and live at Sandy Beach."

Though love is gone forevermore
she takes his words for truth,
and moves the kids toward the door
to Sandy Beach for proof.

A Simple Love

Written for Harley and pups everywhere

A love that's never questioned
or thought to be unsure.
A love that's always mentioned
as sweet, perfect, and pure.

A love that's shown by sitting
on the toes of feet so cold.
A love that's shown by hitting
on the heartstrings of young and old.

A love that just might gain
or be exemplified by trust.
Through thunderstorms and rain,
strength and comfort is a must.

A pup who wants to play
and cuddle all the time,
whose love is here to stay,
a notion that exceeds sublime.

A love so tender and so meek
who joined her brother just this week.
We'll miss her friendship and her love,
but we'll know she watches from above.
